To start the project, I have a single simple question: How do you connect to people online? I’m guessing people will interpret the question in radically different ways, so I’m intentionally leaving it vague and open. Define “connect” however you...

Learning Theories Revisited

"Connectivism presents a model of learning that acknowledges the tectonic shifts in society where learning is no longer an internal, individualistic activity. How people work and function is altered when new tools are utilized. The field of education has been slow to recognize both the impact of new learning tools and the environmental changes in what it means to learn. Connectivism provides insight into learning skills and tasks needed for learners to flourish in a digital era" (Siemens, 2004).

Residents and visitors

Web as a space vs. web as a toolbox would be according to him the key differences.

Net Pedagogy Conference Week: 8-13 November

Week 9 is a conference week, focusing on Net Pedagogy. This will be a great opportunity to reflect on how social networks and networked technology impact how we teach and learn. We’ve lined up four excellent speakers for the week:

Martin Weller
Title: Is there a pedagogy of abundance?

Description: In a digital age we have seen a fundamental shift in many of the basic economic models underlying industries as they move from an economic model based on scarcity to one based on abundance. Thi… Continue

Back on track

Listening to other participants explain their struggle through the course motivated me to get myself together and try to get back on track with the course. I finally got to write a post about my process of self-silencing and what is helping me overcome it.
